The article summarizes the economic and political risks for the Dominican Republic based on assessment by the Business Monitor International as of November 1, 2005. It cautions the country over the long-term political implication of a petroleum trade deal it entered with Venezuela under the Petrocaribe scheme. It also highlights the creation of new jobs at the country's export processing zones. Finally, it accounts a Russian mission to assess the development of a joint energy project. |
